Cucuteni is a Neolithic archaeological culture (c. 5200 to 3500 BC) in Eastern Europe. It flourished in the territory of what is now Moldova, northeastern Romania and parts of Western, Central and Southern Ukraine. Cucuteni painted ceramics reached a level of refinement and originality that has remained unsurpassed.
